Upcoming MMORPG uses Unreal Engine 3

Allright, I have to admit that I’m kind of a sucker when it comes to futuristic online space adventures covered in sensational graphics, but still. Let’s celebrate! Seoul-based T-Entertainment (Laghaim, Last Chaos) has announced that they have licensed Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 3 for their upcoming MMORPG, codenamed L2.

T-Entertainment seem to be confident about their new title. Their CTO, John Hong, said “We have a team of seasoned professionals devoted to L2 project, and we are confident that by integrating our expertise and Unreal Engine 3’s excellent performance, L2 will be a top-tier MMORPG that fascinates gamers all around the world.”

Jay Wilbur, vice president of Epic Games, also spread some love, “T-Entertainment is a well-diversified entertainment company that is poised to launch yet another successful MMORPG worldwide. We are constantly improving the Unreal Engine, and look forward to providing them with cutting-edge game development tools and technology for many months to come.”

L2 will be in the same fashion as T-Entertainment’s previous games, with influences both from role-playing and real-time strategy games, and can be described as a “futuristic fantasy with a taste of space opera.” L2 is being developed for PC, and is scheduled for a worldwide release in 2010.
