Nintendo looking into the Wii storage limit
BY Matthew Razak Jun. 18th, 2008 More on:

If you had asked me two months ago whether or not I thought I would ever need more storage space on my Wii I would have laughed in your face and then gone on to show you the many blocks (whatever the hell they are) I had open on my Wii. Then WiiWare came and Nintendo started putting channels in their games like the Mario Kart Channel and the Wii Fit Channel. As a result, I’m watching my blocks disappear faster than lines in Tetris. So it was with much chagrin that I read NoE’s marketing guy Laurent Fischer comments about who was really needing more storage space.

Of course he’s already apologized for the now infamous ‘geeks and otaku comment,’ but by way of an interview he brings us even more news that I’m guessing he hopes will lessen the eir already directed towards him. Fischer says that Nintendo is working on a solution to the storage space problem but that that solution will not be any type of external hardware. Did your heart just jump in the air and then come crashing back down to reality?

“Definitely there’s no plan to issue hardware, an external hard drive, but we know that we have an issue in that area,” said Fischer. “It’s very obvious and we’re perfectly aware of it, but there’s nothing we can say beyond this.”

“We definitely detect that they [gamers] are serious and we know there is an issue in this, so it’s something that we’re working on,” he told GamesIndustry.biz. He also made mention that Nintendo’s Japanese development teams were the ones working on the problem, probably while stifling the urge to refer to them all as geeks.

Good news - but does this mean an online solution using wiiconnect24 or something?
