Godfather sequel in the works
BY Se AjalaJune 19th, 2008 More on:

The original Godfather game is a quality title based on a classic movie and is one of the few GTA “clones” that managed to be a fun and entertaining game, and not just a tired rehash with muddled gameplay and a weak storyline slapped on. So there are no surprises now that EA is dipping back in for seconds with company boss John Riccitiello planting the seeds.

Turns out that EA’s Redwood Shores studio has been hard at work on the sequel and Riccitiello believes the game should hit consoles by fall. In addition to the tried and true ways of the first, Godfather II will also feature some new gameplay features, “You can play this game both at the street level, much like a GTA-style game, but you can also play it top-down, almost like you’re in an RTS, controlling the strategy of the boroughs so you can see what’s going on…,” Riccitiello told investors in a recent call.

I don’t know about you, but I sure enjoyed the GTA name-drop there.  No word yet on exactly which consoles the game will or won’t be appearing on, but I’d say it’s a safe bet to expect it to be on every single console and handheld, in keeping with the ways of the first title.

Godfather Wii was the best of the multiplat versions. Period. I mean EA nailed the controls the graphics were sound (I really dug the fire effects) and it was fun. One of the best GTA clones I played. The storyline while predictable and cliche was passable enough to want me to get to the end and be “The Don”.
