Faking the Band - The loudest show on Earth! [7/1/08]
BY Jason R. WallaceJuly 1st, 2008 More on:

Faking the Band is a weekly feature detailing the latest in downloadable content for Rock Band.

We’re going to need more whiskey, because Mötley Crüe is crashing the Rock Band party a second time! Those bad boys of hair metal are eager to repeat the smashing success of “Saints of Los Angeles,” the first single debuted on Rock Band by any artist, which outsold its iTunes counterpart nearly fivefold. This time, however, they’re bringing a few guests along.

CRÜE FEST, the band’s giant summer tour, kicks off today, and we’ll see a CRÜE FEST Pack the same day in honor/tribute/cross-promotion. Those of us running low on points thanks to last week’s one-two punch of the Pixies’ Doolittle and the first Weezer Pack can rest easy, because the CRÜE FEST tracks are discounted! Yes, you can buy these masters from Mötley Crüe, Papa Roach and Trapt at half-off the standard rate.

Of course, if you’re completely “pointless,” there’s no need to despair! Another cross-promotion is swooping in to save the day. Each trailer for The Rocker, a Rainn Wilson comedy hitting theaters at the end of July, shows an incredibly obvious shot of a certain plastic Stratocaster, so it’s no surprise that “Promised Land,” a song from the film’s fictional hair metal group Vesuvius, will make its way to the marketplaces. If you don’t like fake 80’s music, well, you’ve got no reason to complain, because the track will cost no points whatsoever. That’s right: F-R-E-E. That spells “free.” Credit report dot…! Sorry. Got stuck in an advertising loop there.

“Promised Land” - Vesuvius [FREE]

CRÜE FEST Pack [80 MS points per song / 240 for pack / all masters]
