One of the more interesting tidbits that came out of Los Angeles’ Anime Expo this weekend was a confirmed release date for Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4. Revealed during Atlus’ Shin Megami Tensei panel, and in the video above, we Americans can get our hands on the newest Persona on December 9th, 2008, available exclusively for the PlayStation 2. Though this certainly isn’t as soon as the Japanese release, which is July 10th, the title will get to us just in time for the holidays.
It’s no surprise that Persona 4 is making its way stateside eitehr, as Persona 3 had a large cult following and did so well they re-released a new version containing extra content, titled Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 FES. Like Persona 3 before it, Persona 4 will include a soundtrack CD.
Atlus’ official website for Persona 4 reveals the basic plotline. Soon after the protagonist arrives at Inaba, the town in which the game is set, people start dying mysteriously and “the peaceful community is thrown into turmoil, [and] the urban youth and his classmates wander into a strange, surreal place covered by a thick fog.” Sound like something you’d be interested in?
