Wii Sports finds its way into UK bar
BY Thom Dinsdale Jul. 7th, 2008 More on:

If there is anything more relaxing than sitting down after a hard days work with a nice cold brewster then it’s sitting down after a hard days work with a nice cold brewster and Wii Sports! The in-the-box sports title for Nintendo’s casual colossi has been making a regular appearence at one bar in the north of England. Mood, located in the City of Newcastle, has installed what it is dubbing the “Wii Lounge”, for customers to relax with their drinks and enjoy a bit of casual sporting action.

As bad ideas go, I cannot imagine any more ill conceived than this. Sure, it’s a great idea to get videogames in a public space so people can enjoy them casually and socially, and meet and make friends over them. But this isn’t Viva Pinata in the corner of Starbucks, this is the notoriously haphazard Wii Sports … in a bar … in an English city … on a Friday night! What were they thinking?!

Oh, but dont worry, there will be deposits on every Wii remote that goes flying through windows and into drinks.
