It seems like these days a good story is under appreciated in videogames. Reviewers go crazy for pretty graphics, and critics rebuke a game if the gameplay isn’t perfect. We can’t comment too much on either of these things where THQ’s Darksiders: Wrath of War is concerned, because the only trailer released, which you see above, is completely in CG. But what does interest about the title is its unique story.

Players will control WAR, one of the fabled Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse responsible for bringing an end to the world. The conflict is that the lord of the Horsemen decided he was going to end the world his own way, and sends down his legions of demons to Earth on meteors while stripping the Horsemen of their power. Obviously, WAR does not take this betrayal likely, and decides to repay the favor in turn, killing the demons plaguing earth, and if we had to bet, goes on to kill his once-master.

If the game plays is half as good as the story sounds, Darksiders might be a new IP worth watching. Darksiders: Wrath of War will be available on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in March of 2009.
