Miyamoto dances around announcing Kid Icarus
BY Se AjalaJuly 16th, 2008 More on:

Ever since Pit appeared in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, there’s been the running speculation that one of Nintendo’s oldest and most revered franchises, Kid Icarus, would be revisited. There’s been unfounded rumors that Factor 5’s unannounced take on a Nintendo franchise for the Wii could possibly be a new iteration in the series.

IGN’s Matt Casamassina managed to corner Ninty everyman Shigeru Miyamoto at E3, and ask him a couple of questions. Principally about whether or not a Kid Icarus game was in the works, and if so, what exactly was up with it. Miyamoto’s reply? “Yeah, I’m not the producer of any Kid Icarus titles. There are some people who have some different ideas, but since I’m not the producer I can’t comment on anything.” Talk about pleading the 5th!

So what do you think? Nintendo will have another press conference during E3, many believe it will address a lot of what they will be offering to core gamers.  Does anyone think that there’s a snow flakes chance in Hades of there being a Kid Icarus announcement for the Wii?

With many gamers disappointed in the first press conference, it would be great to see a more hardcore focus with the second. I do hope for a new Kid Icarus, especially if he is anything like in Smash Bros, but I just want more cool news in general.

I’m not sure what the hell happened with Nintendo this E3. What, exactly, have they been working on all this time? I can’t imagine Wii Music and Wii Sports Resort being all that development intensive. Where are the story-driven games - the big titles. I grr at them.

    When is the second conference?
