Secret LucasArts/BioWare project is KOTOR Online
BY Dan HaspertJuly 17th, 2008 More on:

Through the use of cinematic trailers, developer walkthroughs, or just simply saying “we are making game X”, developers have for many years used E3 as a time to unveil the big games they’re working on, and this E3 is no different. The big unveils so far have been Final Fantasy XIII coming to the Xbox 360, Massive Action Game, and the first ever footage of Dragon Age: Origins. One huge announcement many people were not only looking forward to, but expecting, was the announcement of Star Wars: KOTOR 3. But alas we are on day three of E3 and with all of the major publishers press conferences over, it looks like KOTOR 3 will not be entering the spotlight.

Or will it? Today Portfolio.com as published an excerpt from an interview they did with EA CEO John Riccitiello were he confirmed that the collaboration between LucasArts and BioWare is indeed a KOTOR MMO: “[EA] got two of the most compelling MMOs in the industry in development” including “the one that people are dying for us to talk to them about — in partnership with Lucas, coming out of BioWare.” Because this is not unequivocal proof of a KOTOR MMO, Joystiq contacted the writer of the piece, who clarified that he asked Riccitiello specifically if this game was in fact “KOTOR Online“, and Riccitiello replied “Yes”.

While not a kickass 10 minute trailer or a handful of screenshots, it’s conformation that a title gamers have been eagerly anticipating is in fact in the works. The question now is, will BioWare start releasing details on the game? Let’s hope so, for this might be the biggest thing since, well, KOTOR.
