Gamers clamoring for less fantastic female proportions can now look to the upcoming PSN title Fat Princess for inspiration. Okay, perhaps that’s a bit far-fetched. However, this quirky little number looks to be a veritable multiplayer contender for PlayStation 3 owners.

Developed by Titan Studios, Fat Princess is a uniquely-styled multiplayer PSN title that combines elements of the popular Team Fortress with the micromanagement stylings of RTSs and top-down shooters. Neatly rolled into one little package, Fat Princess is a rousing game of Capture the Flag. Two teams will work to protect their “flags”, which in this case are actually princesses. Yes, the title has everything to do with the gameplay, unlike certain songs with ambiguous titles. Capturing the princesses won’t be so easy, however. They’re overweight gluttons that can be fed slice after slice of cake to be made even bigger, therefore heavier to pick up and more difficult to transport.

With a flag that needs quite a bit of manpower to support, players will need a lot more than able-bodied men. Fat Princess has covered all the bases, implementing a system much like Team Fortress. Different hats will be available that represent all the classes available. Upon spawning, players can choose which class is appropriate for the task they’re setting out to accomplish. You have Warriors, Archers, Priests, Workers, and more. Each class will have an effective strategy to help capture the piggish princess from the enemy base, adding a layer of complexity to an otherwise very straightforward game.

While at first glance Fat Princess seems to be an innocent guilty pleasure, don’t let its dessert-themed locales and adorable characters fool you. Battlefields will get messy, with blood and bodies dotting the landscape.  It’s an awesome juxtaposition that you don’t often see in games — adorable characters and art style with little soldiers spilling blood and overstuffing a helpless princess in order to keep the opposing team from capturing her.

Fat Princess hits the PlayStation Network later this year. Relax, feminists. It’s all in good fun.
