Make some cash with LittleBigPlanet
BY Adam SandbergJuly 22nd, 2008 More on:

Everyone’s favorite upcomer LittleBigPlanet is dependent on user-generated content. You knew that. But perhaps you didn’t know that talented level creators will be able to sell their creations to other players in collaboration with Sony. But don’t quit your job just yet - most of us will probably never earn one penny.

When talking to eu.playstation.com, David Reeves, President of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe said, “So, for example, what we’re trying to do with LittleBigPlanet is almost iTunes meets eBay in the sense that once an individual or a developer has qualified by producing certain levels or certain add-ons, they will then be able in the future to exchange these and make money out of them. Eventually, it’s feasible that you might well see the first LittleBigPlanet millionaire!”

Apparently there’s quite a few obstacles to get past before you’ll start making serious dough. First of all, you must possess some serious skills (most of us won’t be that good). Secondly, you’ll have to qualify and be chosen by Sony to be able to sell what you’ve done worldwide.

While most players will enjoy LBP in a non-profitable way, this is a cool way of making incentives for players to start building fun and smart levels. Most levels will most certainly be free, and if you’re ever in need to purchase levels, we’re fairly sure that the cost won’t be dire, “Even if you charge less than one euro, it doesn’t take many downloads if you’ve got a really strong LittleBigPlanet level for people to be able to make money. It’s a great way for people to show others what they can do.”

I look forward to all the crazy stuff people come up with, but I’m not a fan of paying for more stuff once I’ve already paid for a game. Sad to say I’ll likely not be contributing to the LittleBigPlanet millionaires.
