Geometry Wars Retro Evolved 2 coming sooner than thought
BY Greg Lockwood Jul. 25th, 2008 More on:

Microsoft showed off Geometry Wars Retro Evolved 2 at E3, and even though it looked like simply more of the same, that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The original was an Xbox LIVE Arcade smash hit, and the sequel will surely be as successful, if not more so. Considering it started out as a mini game in Project Gotham Racing 2, Geometry Wars has had considerable success turning itself into its own IP, and if you thought it would be some time before we get our hands on the next title, Activision has good news — the game will be released next week.

In addition to the normal Evolved mode that was the core of the original Retro Evolved, there will be five extra gameplay types — Waves, Pacifism, King, Deadline, and Sequence will help round out the shape-shooting experience. There will be no online cooperative features available, but each mode can be played with one to four players on the same console. So time to dig up those groovy glasses again, Retro Evolved 2 will hit LIVE Arcade on July 30.

No online co-op for a 360 game an XBLA game at that is fail. ESPECIALLY a sequel to an XBLA game. I mean cmon!

      Lack of co-op is disappointing, but GWRE2 > PGR4.

Shame it doesn’t have co-op. I’ve got Geometry Wars Galaxies on Wii - I like it, but don’t play often.
