When Boom Blox, the first in a videogame partnering between EA and Steven Spielberg was released to questionable sales, many wrote the game off as a failure and another nail in the “third-parties cannot survive on the Wii” coffin. But, EA says the title is doing just fine, and now have some numbers to prove it.
During an investor conference call yesterday, CFO Eric Brown said that the title has sold over 450,000 copies since its launch this May. The title “continues to sell well,” was added by CEO John Riccitiello. This news comes a few weeks after Riccitiello’s “it met our expectations” comment and sequel hinting at E3.

I’m glad to hear the game is meeting and/or exceeding expectations. I didn’t figure this game would ever be a blockbuster title, but I’m glad to see such a quality game moving a respectable number of units.

Sadly I still haven’t had extended time on this one. Good news is that it’s coming from GameFly so I’ll be able to really sink my teeth into. I dug what I played though.

It’s a really good game, especially when you have a bunch of people round. The concept is very intuitive and very appealing to everyone. Word of mouth will give this game some serious legs.
