VC and WiiWare releas…IT’S STRONG BAD!

I can’t be bothered with dates in the title when this week’s WiiWare release is epic beyond epic. Strong Bad Episode 1: Homestar Ruiner (Telltale Games, 1 player, Rated T for Teen-Crude Humor, Mild Cartoon Violence, Mild Suggestive Themes, 1,000 Wii Points) not only delivers unto us the debut of episodic content on the Wii but also presents us with Strong Bad in all his glory. I think there are some VC releases, but who cares when you can conveniently visit Strongbadia any time you want now! Let’s see, they’re called Break In (TurboGrafx16, 1-4 players, Rated E for Everyone-Tobacco Reference, 700 Wii Points) and Star Parodier (TurboGrafx16 CD-ROM, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone-Mild Cartoon Violence, 900 Wii Points). But in the spirit of Strong Bad let’s call them Games That Are Not As Totally Awesome As Strong Bad’s Game.

Actually I have no idea how awesome the game is, as it is still downloading on my Wii as I type this. It will be the first in a monthly five part series titled Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People. The game will feature all your favorite characters and even have an appearance from Teen Girl Squad. Most of the action seems to be done via pointing and clicking and focuses on Strong Bad beating Home Star in The Race to the Finish. I’m sure the gameplay will be relatively simple, but the point is the funny and I’m guessing it will be delivered in spades.

Break In is a pool game, but since it was for the TurboGrafx 16 it won’t have any motion controls. I’m not even sure why this would be released, ever. Seriously, a pool videogame is one of those things that has only benefited from the advancement of technology and graphics. Star Parodier is actually a bit of a unique game in that it is a direct parody of Hudson’s Star Soldier. One doesn’t often see full fledged parodies of games released. Though, I think here by parody they mean that they put bright colors and funny ships into the game.
