Heavy Rain demo is confirmed

Heavy Rain has been lurking in the shadows way too long, so we got really excited about the first gameplay footage they released yesterday at the Game Convention in Leipzig. Not only did it show us the graphics, but also the use of Quick Time Events in the game, which hopefully won’t be used excessively.

After the video had been aired, Eurogamer talked to Quantic Dream about a possible Heavy Rain demo prior to its release. “Yes, of course, there will be a demo,” said studio president David Cage, but he also added that a potential demo would stay clear of the game’s main story and instead focus on the game’s unique mechanics.

“We’ve spent a lot of time working on the story this time,” Cage added. “We’ve worked with people from Hollywood, script writers, to really make it just right. And I think it’s a very unusual story for a videogame, so I think people will be quite surprised.”

Some might remember that the demo for Quantic Dream’s debut game Indigo Prophecy/Fahrenheit was the actual first level of the game, which also had unique gameplay and story. Considering the success of that demo, it seems like Heavy Rain will be truly unparalleled in comparison to both Indigo Prophecy and other games.
