We all know that games have their fair share of annoying characters. Luckily, these characters usually relegate themselves to the background of the game coming in as either sidekicks or people in need of rescue. It’s easy for them to be annoying; they’re constantly in another castle or screaming for help or getting in the way when they should be helping. Slippy, Ashley from RE4 and that god damn dog from Duck Hunt come easily to mind. It’s almost their job to be annoying, so we here at TVGB are never too surprised when they are. They aren’t the main part of the game so it’s easy to overlook them.
But what about when the lead character is ridiculously annoying? You can’t ditch them or let them die or flat out ignore them, you’re stuck with them for the whole game no matter how blindingly annoying they are. With this in mind, we’re going to take a look at the ten most irritating game protagonists in gaming history. For this list, the character has to be someone or some thing that the player controls for a large chunk of the game. In short, they need to be the main character, the one who gets the girl, the guy who’s still standing at the end, etc etc. You’re stuck with these guys no matter how much you hate putting up with them. Maybe it’s their character, maybe it’s the fact that they suck as a game character or maybe they just grind your gears (it isn’t because they’re in a bad game, that’s annoying game design). Whatever it is, these characters have been worse than nails across a chalk board for many gamers.

Gees. Superman has like one and a half game. And Batman? Yeah we had Batman Begins in last ten years.And i wouldnt agree with Raiden neither, not after i finished MGS4. I think he is just crushed by Solid Snake’s uber-presence, thats it. However, I would go for characters such as “Prey guy” Tommy.

In my opinion it`s Raiden, who should get the first prize in “annoyance competition”. Firstable he looks like a woman. It`s a complete opposition to Solid Snake. If Kojima wanted to place the other character than Snake why didn`t he gave under our control someone who is at least similar to an badass mercenary like Snake (especially this from MGS1)? Secondly he is an complete rookie (despite what is said further). Remember the scene when he enters the place where Vamp finishes the last stnding NAVY soldiers? In the entrance there was a dead body with a gun. Hearing what`s going on inside, Raiden should take that gun and go in being armed. No. Instead he decided to check out the situation with bare hands. Full pro. Not to mention his “I dont`s smoke.” when Snake tries to give him a packet of cigarettes. Man, that was annoying.

But to specify, Raiden is cool NOW, but in MGS2, he’s really f***ing annoying. However, not half as annoying as Rose, but she’s a side character anyway.
And Bubsy should be one.
Nobody is more annoying than Bubsy.

I can see how half these characters made it on here, but I don’t really agree with most of these.
Luigi being a run on joke in my opinion is hilarious. I’d even love it if they made a sequel to Luigi’s Mansion. Them making him the oddball in fact strengthened my love for Luigi. Before they gave him his personality, he was literally a copy of Mario.
I think Raiden was perfect for what his purpose was. Hideo Kojima is a genius for having him. You just have to understand his purpose to appreciate it. But I mostly wanted to add
“He isn’t Solid Snake and anyone who is in an MGS game and isn’t Solid Snake is annoying.”
So, looks like Naked Snake a.k.a. Big Boss should share this spot. Since he fits Raiden’s reason perfectly. He’s not Solid Snake, and he’s the protagonist of a MGS game.

That’s a good point, but Big Boss was less annoying than Raiden who just didn’t work for us at all.

Batman has had about 8 games in the past 10 years and they were all bad (which doesn’t matter in this list) but more importantly completely and totally failed to capture anything that makes Batman awesome. All of them focus more on his gadgets and tools than his character making him flat and aggravating.

Sorry to say but it wasn’t Luigi’s mansion that started to make him a coward. Thats been his character WAY before that game. He had his first solo game on the snes too. So when people say that this is a epic fail it is. You dont even have your facts straight and not all these characters deserve to be called annoying.

I know he was a coward beforehand but it wasn’t until Luigi’s Mansion that it really stuck out like that and started to get annoying and overplayed. Before he seemed to have something else and after Luigi’s Mansion he lost it.

Raiden was a pretty okay character. Not annoying at all. Maybe not completely experienced, but not annoying.

Couldn’t agree more about Tidus. I’ve been bitching about the vomit-inducing annoyance of that character since I first started playing FFX. I actually only read this story to see if he was included and almost lost hope just to be pleasantly surprised at the end. He even looks as if he’s been dressed by the straight eye for the queer guy or sumthin’.

This list is a GIANT error, Luigi is a very funny and cool charecter, He haven’t be on this list. (sorry, my english isn’t soooooo good). So this is a EPIC FAIL!!!!!
