Major Nelson demoing the new Xbox experience at PAX
BY Dennis Lesica Aug. 25th, 2008 More on:

This weekend gamers from all over the world — except Fatal1ty —  will be descending upon Seattle, Washington to attend the summer gaming mecca that is the Penny Arcade Expo. Not only will eager gaming maniacs have the opportunity to play highly anticipated games that won’t be out for a few more months, but they’ll have the chance to eyeball the sexy-to-some-scary-to-others look of the new Xbox 360 dashboard.

Larry Hryb (aka Major Nelson) announced on his blog that he will be in attendance, showcasing the new setup at the Microsoft booth (#412). If you’re interested in seeing what the new hotness is all about, hit up the booth at 10:30 AM or 3:30 PM on Saturday or Sunday. If you’re feeling really saucy, show up for all four demos and maybe you’ll see one of the new avatar characters turn into Cthulhu or maybe the Xbox will digitize you into the computer word a la Tron.  Personally, I’d be down for either and I hope to see them happen while visiting.  If not, well, you’ll find me sulking in a corner — tell me it’ll be alright.

I’ve got to start going to PAX. Wonder if my boss would notice if I call in Sick the same week every year.

Not for the first few years I bet so you’ve got some time.

I’m guessing I’m not the only one that is just plain disappointed with the Mii’s and the redesign? It doesn’t add any functionality as far as I can tell. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what Larry shows D at PAX.

I want to be greeted by a mini-me in Mass Effect armor every time I turn on my 360. I don’t care if I have to pay a few dollars for it — I want it :)

I think I will be the guy standing in the back of the room that waits for a quiet moment and goes:

      “…GAY…”
