Man kills infant for interrupting videogame
BY Jeremy HillAugust 30th, 2008 More on:

prison-bars21

This is the kind of story that makes us lose faith in our fellow man. It’s bad enough this guy thought a videogame was something worth attacking a person over, but the fact that they were an infant is downright deplorable. Rene Edward Barrios pleaded guilty to manslaughter on Thursday after killing 18-day old Jaden Encinas for interrupting his videogame session by crying.

The child’s mother left him in the care of Barrios while she stepped out to run some errands. Barrios was playing an unspecified game (as if it matters) when the baby started crying. According to the Associated Press, Barrios paused his game, went into the child’s room and shook him before striking him in the head. He then returned to play his game for ten minutes before returning to the room to find the baby had turned blue. The baby was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Barrios faces between 10 to 21 years in prison when he is sentenced on September 30.

Sad that people can joke about a murder like this just because they can remain anonymous.

    @ #1 and #2… Idiots.

Anyway, the sad part is that the whole videogame thing will be forever linked to this story. Which means that it lends more credibility that people can’t handle games and reality (particularly violent games even when it’s not listed, but assumed). More laws here we come…

Ugh, didn’t even wanna read this one but I finally gave in. Wish I hadn’t. If dude’s unstable enough to think “The baby’s crying and I’m trying to finish this level, lemme go shake it and punch it”, I’m thinking 21 years should be the minimum. He’s got ISSUES. *shakes head*

My daughter is just over 2yrs old now. I was playing on my Wii and she wouldn’t stop trying to take the controllers. I don’t know how many times I died and had to restart my level. I was annoyed at best, but that’s why games can be paused. This sick bastard should fry KFC style.

All the facts arent given in this story, the baby died from the blunt force trauma to the head, rene didnt plead guily to hitting him in the head,he never did and for the shaking he didnt shake the baby because of a game, just because the cops asked “what were you doing at the time?” thats why the headline of the story has been blown out of content. Now if the news reporter really read all the reports and was at the court hearing then maybe all this would be included in the story, but be happy to know that the mother is pregnant for the 3rd time.So pray that she doesnt lose the 3rd child in within 3yrs..

what does the mother being pregnant have anything to do with the story. she obviously wasnt suspected in any part of her childs death, meaning she wasnt responsible. her being pregnant is irrelevant to what this sob did to a helpless child.

Rene Barrios was sentenced to 15 years in the death of 18 day old Jaden Encinas. A**hole deserves a hell of a lot more, maybe theyll torture the hell out of him for the time hes locked up!!!
