Faking the Band 2 - But who’s buying? [Sept. 16]
BY Jason R. Wallace Sep. 16th, 2008 More on:

Faking the Band 2 is a weekly feature detailing the latest in DLC for the Rock Band platform.

Who’s buying, you ask? Why, any self-respecting thrash metal fans and lovers of spine-breaking notecharts! The already mammoth setlist for Rock Band 2 grows ever larger with today’s DLC: the remainder of Megadeth’s seminal Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying? (the first of six recently announced full albums). The title track has a permanent home on the Rock Band 2 disc and with good reason, what with its intense guitar solos and a killer bassline. But, rest assured, the other songs on the record are equally insane, from the shredding madness of “Wake Up Dead” to the blues-on-cocaine cover of “I Ain’t Superstitious.”

For those who like their tunes a lot less aggressive, there’s a saving grace today: a Rock Band Tour pack with plenty of indie and pop rock. There’s the baroque vibe of Panic at the Disco’s “She’s a Handsome Woman,” the soulful, Fall Out Boy-esque “One of THOSE Nights” from the Cab, the clapping-laced Plain White T’s single “Natural Disaster” and Dashboard Confessional’s emo anthem “Hands Down.” Each band is scheduled to perform in the official Rock Band Live Tour starting in October, a promotional concert-cum-tournament where music lovers can compete for a chance to play the game on the main stage between sets and in front of thousands.

I picked up the Rock Band Tour 4-pack and I’m enjoying all 4 songs on guitar. I’ll have to try drums later, but the guitar parts are fun but still challenging in parts.
