The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of DICE’s parkour-inspired Mirror’s Edge will hit the streets on November 11 in the US and November 14 in the UK, EA announced today. While understanding that getting joyful release date news about one of the freshest looking titles of the year is not good enough to meet the high demands of today’s gamer, they’re also informing us that we will get to try out the art of jumping, climbing and sliding on ultra shiny rooftops and streets in a demo that will pop up on both Xbox LIVE and PSN before the game’s retail release.
Besides giving a little sample of what it’s like to occupy the orange shoes of Faith, the demo will include a Time Trial mode that can be unlocked with a code that will be given to those who pre-order the game starting September 26 from select, unfortunately unspecified, retailers. Besides putting one’s rooftop running skills to the test, the Time Trial mode allows players to upload their best time to the leaderboards as well as download others’ best times and try to beat them by racing against their ghosts.
Owen O’Brien, Senior Producer at DICE, comments today’s news: “Mirror’s Edge is bringing something new to the action-adventure genre this holiday by putting the player in the shoes of the hero, seeing what she sees, feeling what she feels. We wanted to create an entirely new experience, with a different type of heroine and a world that not only looks fresh and new but has unique gameplay.”
Mirror’s Edge will see a PC release as well, but that will happen later in the winter.
