As part of a new series of Wii releases known as “Wii de Asobu” in Japan, or “Play On Wii” for the rest of you, some classic GameCube titles will be getting a Wii makeover to make them play more smoothly with the Wii’s foreign control scheme. The first title in the series will be Pikmin, which will be mated to a control scheme that takes advantage of the Wii’s motion-sensing capabilities.
A curious note, while a Pikmin “remake” was announced, there was no mention of the rumored, and nearly confirmed, Pikmin 3. At E3, when Miyamoto was asked directly if there was a new Pikmin game in the works he confirmed the project with very little hesitation. If this turns out to be the game he was referencing, there are bound to be many angry Nintendo fans in the morning.
