We’ve already told you ad nauseum that The Conduit looks good and plays good, but maybe you haven’t been convinced by that and want some real techno talk about what the game is doing to look so pretty on the Wii. Enter the above video which was released over the weekend as part of that media summit Nintendo held. The video shows off all of the pretties and then tells you why they look so pretty.
Now I’m not a scientist who cares about mumbo-jumbo words like bloom lighting and pixel hues, but I do know that the game pretty much outshines everything else we’ve seen on the Wii and probably will do so for quite some time. It’s hard to imagine how far behind every other third party game is going to look when this hits, but luckily other developers can now watch this video and learn.

Once this game comes out, and people realize what can be done on the Wii, there will be no more excuses about the crappy looking games. I want this game.

I hope that was easy mode, because the A.I. was not good. They just stood around for you to kill them, no hiding behind cover.

@Darren, will it still look good on a big screen TV? Sure even the best 480p stuff looks pretty damn good on a 27″ TV, but blow that up to 42″ and it doesn’t look as good as its PS3 and 360 720p counterpart. That being said, I wish more games for the Wii tried as hard as High Voltage is on this one.

Could this be the first game i actually buy for my Wii (not counting Wii Sports) ??? I hope so.

@Brandon: I don’t expect it to look nearly as good as a 360 or PS3 game, and considering I don’t even have component cables to up my Wii to 480p, it’d be even worse. But considering some of the beautiful games that came out on the GameCube, and that the Wii is supposed to be at least twice as powerful, I don’t think it’s wrong to expect good looking games from the system. They won’t be high def, but they don’t all have to look like Carnival Games.
P.S. On the Internet, my name is Dexter.

@Dexter, regarding the power of the Wii. I know it’s been discussed a lot, but I get the impression that a lot of that horsepower goes towards Wiimote interpretation and the games wouldn’t look much better than XBOX games. Then again, if you look at the DS, it’s obvious that graphics don’t equal sell through. It’s still hard to find Wii’s or WiiFit’s in my town.
For me though it’s hard to play Wii after playing games like Viva Pinata 2 or Burnout Paradise… In fact, sadly even, I’ve hardly played since I finished Mario Galaxy. That being said, the sequel to Trace Memory looks pretty good. They really have not done enough to get classic point n’ click adventures onto the Wii. Zack and Wiki was close, but not really an adventure as much as it was a puzzle game.
