Sony talks about the DSi |

Evidently Nintendo isn’t the only one that wants to dicuss their products this week. After the announcement of the DSi Sony got in touch with Gizmodo and wondered if they would be interested in Sony’s take on the whole thing. I’m not sure anyone would say no to a story like that so they obviously jumped at the chance to talk with John Koller, Sony director of hardware marketing, about Nintendo’s recent announcment.
Koller first comes across as quite complimentary when discussing the DS saying, “Nintendo has kind of a history of these [moderate] kinds of updates, and even with DS Lite, there was a lot of discussion, ‘Is that enough?’ And they seemed to do pretty well there.”
All right a bit of a backhand jab with the whole “moderate” thing, but still recognizing what Nintendo has done. He was then asked about how he thinks the DSi will do in comparison with the DS Lite. Get ready for some backhanded complimenting that only the videogame industry could deliver. “I can see the DSi being successful. The DS lite was obviously very successful. Will DSi do well with [the DS's] demographic? It probably will. Will it be a product that expands their user base [beyond] under 12? I’m not sure.”
Oh, Shnap! Nintendo done got served. As per Sony’s request I’ve reduced my age to 12 so I can play my DS. You’ll all just have to put up with my crappy vocabulary and made up words like breasticles. Wow, not much has changed since I was 12, has it?

I’m under twelve, assuming I age only once every two years.

Well Sony can’t just say “Yeah Nintendo is dominating us in the portable market.” But who cares, Nintendo is ruling with the DS.

That would be a really funny backhanded compliment if it weren’t so absolutely stupid.

I love my DS. The variety and amount of games for the system is just amazing. I really wished that they had taken the opportunity to actually update the game hardware (processor, screen resolution, etc…) instead of just adding a camera and shrinking it a little.
