Battle.net may not remain free?
BY Antonio HernandezOctober 11th, 2008 More on:

I remember the gold old days of playing Diablo II on Battle.net. The blue skies, the carefree air that wafted through my senses, and the wads of cash in my pocket. Yup, those were the days and hopefully they will continue and..wait..Battle.net might my monetized?

At the Diablo III Gameplay panel, Blizzard’s Julian Wilson was asked the question that everyone has had on their mind since the announcement of Diablo III and Starcraft II; would Battle.net remain completely free? His response may just send chills down your spine. “We are looking to monetize Battle.Net so that we get to keep making these games and updating features,” he said and then added, “we kind of have to.”

Oh boy, this may not sit well with fans, but I kind of saw this coming. However, if you add this news to the recent announcement relating to StarCraft II, you might have elements of a perfect-fanboy-storm. Get ready to take cover.

That does it. I think Blizzard is taken over by corporate bozzos . It is as if they don’t make enough money already. Shame on you Blizzard.
