VC and WiiWare updates for the week of Oct. 13
BY Matthew RazakOct. 13th, 2008 More on:

I’m going to be so late for work because of this story, but the news must be brought to the people and the people must read the news! To the news! This week in WiiWare we are getting some pretty interesting stuff with World of Goo (2D Boy, 1-4 players, Rated E for Everyone—Comic Mischief, 1,500 Wii Points) and Art Style: CUBELLO (Nintendo, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone, 600 Wii Points), which would make you think that the VC is missing out but it counters with SECRET OF MANA (Super NES™, 1-3 players, Rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older—Mild Fantasy Violence, Mild Suggestive Themes, 800 Wii Points) and STREET FIGHTER II’: SPECIAL CHAMPION EDITION (Sega Genesis, 1-2 players, Rated T for Teen—Violence, 800 Wii Points). It’s another good week for both download services on the Wii.

World of Goo is probably the more well known of the two WiiWare titles as it has already been released on the PC and was proclaimed an indy darling by gamers everywhere. In the game you construct structures out of living balls of goo and use them in physics based puzzles. Designed by two guys in a basement the game is kick ass and I’m glad to see WiiWare picking it up. Art Style: CUBELLO is the second in Nintendo’s Art Style series following Art Style: ORBIENT a few weeks ago. Is a shooter/puzzle game with the simple controls that the series is trying to enforced melded with some more complex gameplay. The first game was interesting reports say so this one might be worth a try.

Skipping over to the VC, every gamer’s pants should be tented right now. Secret of Mana is one of the greatest RPGs ever made and I’m glad to see that the VC is starting to really pick up its RPG production. If you’ve never played this game this is a great chance to go out and get it. Another Street Fighter on the other hand doesn’t get me too excited, mostly because it just reminds me that we don’t of SFIV yet.

My boxed, mint condition, Secret Of Mana SNES cartridge takes pride of place in my library of videogames. I think it may be worth a bob or two these days. But I’d never part with it. A part of my very soul resides within its chunky plastic casing.

I am surprised you could tear yourself away from Dead Space to write this :P

I might want to get Secret of Mana just for the fact it is easier to play on the Wii 3 player that it would be on my SuperNES version.
