King of Fighters Collection headed to Wii, PS2 and PSP
BY Luke WalkerOctober 16th, 2008 More on:

The King of Fighters burst onto the arcade fighting scene in 1994 as a dream match-up for other SNK franchise characters from games like Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, Ikari Warriors and Psycho Soldier. It introduced the series signature three combatant teams allowing for five round fights. While The King of Fighters never achieved the same popularity as its peers Street Fighter II and Mortal Kombat, it is certainly a series worthy of a collection — a collection coming out soon actually.

The King of Fighters Collection: The Orochi Saga includes KOF ‘94 through ‘98, which is the largest collection for this series to date. The Orochi Saga, which follows the tail of an ancient evil’s release and the fighters trying desperately to contain it, is only in KOF ‘95 through ‘97; but we’re not complaining. KOF ‘98 is a great game that gets rid of the saga in favor of going for a huge roster enabling fans to take on characters through the history of the series.

The Orochi Saga will also mark the first time KOF makes it to the Wii, outside of the single Virtual Console release of KOF ‘94. This collection will also be available on the PS2 and PSP this Fall in the US followed closely by Europe this Winter. The Orochi Saga will include unlockable bonus material as well as a Color Edit Mode to personalize favorite characters. If this mode includes team jackets we’re hoping for Cobra Kai!
