Publisher-branded PSN storefronts coming, Capcom to be first
BY Mike WehnerOctober 18th, 2008 More on:

Few publishers have enjoyed as much success on the new generation of systems as Capcom. From supporting the Xbox 360 early on, all the way to their upcoming sure-fire hit Resident Evil 5, Capcom has hit a nerve with gamers like no other publisher. Their success isn’t confined to just the retail market, with games like Mega Man 9 and Bionic Commando: Rearmed tearing up the download lists of gamers worldwide.

Sony is taking the initiative to reward Capcom for their tireless dedication by offering them the first slot in their upcoming publisher-branded store section on the Playstation Store service. Capcom will receive their own branded store in which to showcase their games. This is an extremely unique idea in the downloadable market space and is sure to cause many other publishers to request custom stores of their own. Let’s hope this causes Capcom to devote even more time to downloadable games, as theirs are certainly some of the best of this generation.
