Where is Jason when you need him? As loyal readers of the site and listeners to our mega-awesome podcast, The Cross Platform Podcast, know, he is a bit obsessed with everything Rock Band and thus I’m sure could deliver this news with much more gusto and panache than I. Plus, he knows more about music than I so I’m guessing he could identify at least one of the tracks in the 20 free songs that will be downloadable with Rock Band 2 once players register their code that appears on the back of their game box or is already on the back of their 360 version of the game. That will bring the total song track up to over 100 songs.

Of the 20 bands I know absolutely none, which makes me feel utterly uncool and out of the loop since I’m guessing these are all cool underground bands that the groovy kids know about. I mean I’m pretty sure any band called Opiate for the Masses is going to have some killer guitar riffs in their songs, but I can neither confirm nor deny that fact because I’m just that uncool when it comes to music.
