LittleBigPlanet delayed? Nobody told Wal-Mart! |
|

I’m a videogame lover. As such, I take every announcement with a grain of salt. The most recent announcement to get the salt treatment was the delay of LittleBigPlanet. Now, having worked in retail, I knew that there was very little chance the game would be able to be recalled from ALL the stores it had been sent to, and so I began my hunt. What did I find? You may be surprised. It seems that two huge retailers seem to have missed the boat on the recall, namely Wal-Mart and Target. That’s right, I just picked up my copy of LittleBigPlanet at midnight here in my hometown. A quick phone call to all the surrounding cities’ superstores brought similar responses. It looks like I won’t be stuck playing poker games on the Internet after all. LittleBigPlanet is for sale, and that’s the truth. This has been your ThatVideoGameBlog.com public service announcement.

Mike, thanks for telling me about Operation LBP on Twitter. When I saw that your attempt at nabbing a copy tonight went successful, I got out of bed and left for my Walmart.
When I got there there was an employee stocking CDs two aisles down. I walked over to the video game section and saw that there was a spot in the planogram for LBP. I was a little scared that maybe they already pulled the copies or opted not to stock them at all. I walked over to the associate and asked him if they had the game. That’s when he said: “Oh, yeah. Everyone else has been asking for Fable. What’s this one about?” I proceeded to try to explain, even though I knew my attempts would fail no matter how well I explained the game. I asked for two copies, was walked up to the front check out, paid and left. No problems at all. Was a piece of cake.
Thanks again!

Sorry, I’m of Euro descent. Seems like “gotten” is an American an American dialect.
Furthermore “got” was poor word choice in and of itself, sounds un-educated. Either way, posting at 3AM doesn’t help.
Back on topic: Can’t wait to play the game. Friend doesn’t want a copy that I picked up for him, now I have an extra.

I went to a Target in NJ, and they are no longer selling it. The sales clerk had a stack of them, went to ring it up, and it told her not to sell it. They listed a new release date of 11/17 for the game. Oh well, I missed the boat.

i had gone out at midnight last night as well hoping to get the game and sure enough as i arrived to the electronics dept at walmart a lady had it on her cart to put out. i asked for the game, she rung it up and i left. my friend asked me to get him a copy but he asked after i had already left. i told him i would go by first thing in the morning before work, and when i got there they werent out on the shelves. i asked for the game and a lady told me they werent being sold but took one out of a drawer and tried to ring it up. when she scanned it, it said “not allowed.” i have earned a few trophies as well. psn id: hidefkill

Well that’s odd, because I called my Walmart yesterday after a friend of mine showed me a pic that they had it at his walmart. But when i asked mine if they had it they said they would be getting it on the 11th of NOVEMBER! :S That is past the release date for any region. :\
I am going to go there today and see for myself though, I really want it!

Ok well I live in Houston, Texas (US obviously). I called Blockbuster, Bestbuy, Walmart, Target, etc. All of them said the same thing, they have it but they had to send it back. FUCK!!! ;_;
I guess my stores are smarter then your stores, unfortunately.. Funny thing was how each store put it in their own words lol. “The game has been officially recalled for offensive content”, “Umm yeah it got recalled for everyone cuz it had some words in there not for kids to hear”, “Oh yeah! We have LBP! But its being sent back right now..” etc
>:(

Babies get milk tainted with poison in China, and we’re protected from a game with a couple of lines from the Quran in Somalian no less. Considering some of Sony’s blatantly racist ads in the past, I’m surprised they even give a damn. Political correctness gone mad I say.

After I read this article, I was in my car and on my way to Walmart so fast that I had to put my pants on in the car. And sure enough when I got there, there a an “empty rack” labeled LittleBigPlanet. I almost burst into tears. The first time EVER that my suckish Walmart, who’s never had a game until the week AFTER its release, has a game on the release date(technically before) its the game I’m most excited about. And on the equally “empty” rack next to it was the rack designated for Spiderman:Web of Shadows, the game that comes in second on my excitement meter and a another game supposed to be released today. Also a game that I had just finished asking about over the phone with Gamestop who said it would be available tomorrow. Needless to say I had to check out anywhere else that sold games within ten miles of my house, including Target, Circuit City, and even Blockbuster.[I didn't even bother with Gamestop since even before the delay they were planning on selling it Oct.22, devoting its true release date to Fable mania.] No luck whatsoever. And out of those three I had the least hope for Target. And rightly so considering they were out of both Soul Calibur IV and Metal Gear Solid 4. I guess the thing I learned from this experience was……. Never Give Up On A Game Retailer!!!!!!

folks oughta double check blockbuster, i went by walmart, target, cc, bestbuy, gamestop yesterday… nothing doing. no lbp. dropped by blockbuster on the way home and they had one copy for RENT (none for sale, appeared theyd already sold the couple they had). So i went ahead and rented it no problem. Game really is awesome, trophies at 12%! so go check blockbusters! if you can rent it, its just as good!
