Fable 2 online co-op patch can make the game freeze |

Oh noes! Some users at the Lionhead’s forum have stated that Fable 2 freezes randomly after they’ve installed the last minute online co-op patch. The dodgy freezing monster causing this is said to appear at the start of the game for some players, and after several hours for others. Although clearing the cache and neglecting the patch or turning the multiplayer Orbs off will kill the monster, issues like these can be devastating to players that don’t know why this problem is caused.

I don’t even have xbox live, i didn’t download any patch, all i did was start playing the game, brand new! sometimes it freezes right after the lionhead logo, sometimes it freezes when i’m opening treasure chests, sometimes it freezes when i’m walking. often the sound will stop working first, and i’ll try to not move and wait for sound to come back, but the moment i move it freezes. i don’t know what to do.

Mine console freezes, makes a horrible noise and white dotty vertical lines appear in strips. Doesn’t really matter what I’m doing so I can’t re-create it every time. Very annoying. Did anybody test this game or patch before it was burned released?

After I helped garth and went through the cullis gate to be stranded in some weird world and locked in a cage with an old man making fun of me. I found my way out, took 5 steps out and the game turned black. After a restart i get halfway through the loading screen and it locks up at the same point everytime.
I bought a memory unit and transferred my saved files, deleted the patch, even wasted $12.50 on pub games just to have the same problem WTF! I can load all my friend’s saved game but not mine and i really dont feel like going through the game again. Thank you Lionhead for makin a great game unplayable, i hope you get raped by Magic Johnson for makin us hard working people waste 60 dollars or more for a glitch filled piece of crap.

It aches in my heart to hear about your problems. We can only hope Bethesda finds some way to fix these problems. Put Magic Johnson on hold until they’ve come out with a response though.

This problem really needs to be fixed. My brothers and I all had separate games. The freezing started for us after about 6 hours of gameplay. My youngest brother is stuck in the abbott mission, my other brother is stuck outside between towns, and I cannot get out of the gypsy village at the beginning.
All of those do not matter anymore though, because we deleted all of our games, the patch, the cache, and even anything Fable 2-related off of the hard drive. Now we can’t get past being a kid. This is just aweful.
All of our other games play fine, except for our brand new copy of Gears of War 2. It is freezing up now too. Normally during the first movie clip, but on the chance that we can play the first mission it freezes shortly after we start.
Could this be a related issue? Do we just have the worst possible luck? Or is it just impossible to make a game that works anymore?

I have been researching this issue since the release as I have had issues from the start ranging from non even getting to the title screen to getting to the bird poop that freezes. I have found several solutions to this issue which you can read about here.

you do not have the worst possible luck. me and my lil bro have a freezing issue too. we both have seperate copies and they both freeze right when we get to the top of garths tower in “the hero of will” quest. i want to delete the co-op patch and see if it does anything but i dont know how

To delete the patch you have to delete all the patches of every game on your hard drive. You go to memory, press Y and then press X, X, LB, RB, X, X….that should work…

Mine freezes at any time in any place in the whole game. Usually a good 5-10 minutes of playing and it freezes. I tried the XX LB RB XX thing and that didnt help. I’ve seen and heard that there are copies out there that work. My friend has one of ‘em but he wont let me borrow it. Im not exactly happy that I keep having to exchange this one and the people at Target are getting a litle suspicious. Either way, if there is some kind of fix for it on the 360 I hope it comes soon.
