Resident Evil 5 looks up to BioShock
BY Alix MinjarezOct. 24th, 2008 More on:

Yup, western games have been an inspiration for the latest installment in the Resident Evil series, as Capcom’s Masachika Kawata has stated in a recent interview. One game that is mentioned as being one of the biggest inspirations is BioShock which Kawata says is “a classic game which really utilized the next gen power very well. The world is very strong and very believable, and the whole game was quite inspiring.”

According to Kawata, they’ve also “incorporated some other aspects of western games into Resident Evil 5,” but doesn’t mention any names. He does mention a movie however, and an “obvious” one at that, from which they’ve drawn inspiration from — Black Hawk Down.

Whatever is being implemented into the game is surely making it all the more better. Capcom seems to be full of surprises, but after making such a spectacular game like RE4, I’m sure they’re doing everything they can to only make another game that is better than the last. Oh, if only next year would come already!
