For those of you who have pre-ordered Call of Duty: World at War at your local GameStop, it’s time to rejoice — Activision has announced that the multiplayer beta for the game is now up and running. If you pre-ordered the game and gave GameStop your e-mail address, chances are you have gotten all the info you need in order to start playing. If you didn’t pre-order but still want a chance to be a part of it then all you have to do is register online at the official website.
In the beta, players will be able to go through up to 40 multiplayer levels as U.S. Marines, German Wehrmackt, Japanese Imperial Army or Russian Red Army factions. Team Death Match, Free-For-All, Capture the Flag and War are all game types that can be played on the three different maps. The Castle map is where daytime battles located on the grounds of a Japanese castle take place. The Makin map, which is set in an outpost on the Makin Atoll in the Pacific, is where nighttime battle can call for some serious damage. And finally there’s the Roundhouse, a European train port that has seen better days before the war.
The beta for the PC is only going to last for a few weeks, I’m sure this isn’t news to anybody seeing as how almost all betas only last that long. Think of it as a friendly reminder, and go try to get your hands on it before it’s too late.
