New Xbox Experience leaked online
BY Jeremy Hill Nov. 1st, 2008 More on:

We should know by now that nothing can hide from the power of the Internet. Some individual(s) have managed to swipe the install files for the New Xbox Experience and put them up online for any and all to use. No, we’re not going to provide a link to the site where you can download it because it’s not supposed to be available until Nov. 19.

As is mostly the case with early releases, there are some drawbacks to downloading the NXE. If you install the update you won’t be able to access Xbox LIVE until Nov. 19. Keep in mind that Gears of War 2, Call of Duty: World at War and Left 4 Dead all come out before the 19th. So you’d be effectively robbing yourself out of a half of month’s worth of online gaming. There’s also no real guarantee that Microsoft won’t get ticked off and start dropping some digital punishment down on you.

There’s no benefit to downloading it early, like you said you could get kicked off and you won’t be able to game online. You can’t even make an avatar, which won’t bother some. But, nonetheless you don’t have full functionality. Not worth the risk to download early.

Why not allow this though? It would stretch out the stress on the servers in the long run… MS should be doing this for itself. I suppose the concern is that they can’t guarantee that someone hasn’t hacked the files and if it bricks your 360 they don’t want that to come down on them.

Shame really. I missed the signup for the early NXE and wouldn’t mind having it before the 19th. Just so I don’t have to wait 48 hours for them to fix their servers from the deluge of downloaders.
