Fallout 3 is a post apocalyptic success
BY Jeremy HillNovember 6th, 2008 More on:

We’re really enjoying Fallout 3 what with all the ghoul smashing and all, and it looks like most feel the same way. Bethesda has issued a press release detailing the tremendous sales of Fallout 3 since it was launched on Oct. 28. For a game that hasn’t been out for 2 weeks, Fallout 3 could very well become one of the biggest selling titles of the year.

Bethesda says that it shipped 4.7 million copies of Fallout 3 across PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms last week and it’s seen over $300 million in sales so far. I think it’s fair to say Bethesda has made a profit on this one. The press release goes on to say how great Fallout 3 did in reviews from various outlets and how many magazine covers the game was on. The fallout from the PS3 community about various annoying glitches and graphical issues doesn’t seem to have had any effect on the big picture here despite widespread coverage.

This is the scene so far judging from sales in North America and the UK. Fallout 3 will bring its western style of kill ‘em all gameplay to Japan on December 4. We’ll see if it does as well over there.
