VC and WiiWare release for the week of Nov. 10
BY Matthew RazakNov. 10th, 2008 More on:

Ahhhhhhh! For the first time in the history of this post I missed a week, but it was because I was away learning about Skate 2 and Skate It. So I hope everyone will forgive me that they had no way of finding out what was coming out for the Virtual Console and WiiWare. We’re back to the natural order of things now so there is no need to panic. Actually, panic a little, because this week’s line-up of games is one of the worst we’ve ever had and that’s with Mega Man 3 (NES™, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone-Mild Cartoon Violence, 500 Wii Points) in there. That’s the only VC release of the week and the two WiiWare releases are Brain Challenge (Gameloft, 1-4 players, Rated E for Everyone, 1,000 Wii Points) and Yummy Yummy Cooking Jam (Virtual Toys, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone-Animated Blood, Comic Mischief, 1,000 Wii Points).

Basically WiiWare is two games that you probably already own in some other form. Brain Challenge (already a port of a DS game of the same name), I’m guessing, is far inferior to the addictive Brain Age on the DS and definitely less portable, and Yummy Yummy Cooking Mama Jam has you cooking food in restaurants in order to become the best chef ever. Cooking Jam sounds like it could have been clever about a year ago, but now it simply looks like a copycat thrust onto the system. Cooking is soooo 2007. I’d say skip Brain Challenge too, unless you’ve got a thing for hot doctors. I think we all know how she made it through med school.

Does anyone else find it hard to get excited for Mega Man games on VC anymore? After Mega Man 9 came out I’ve had my Mega Man fix and can play it over and over for a good time to come. Maybe that’s just me though, since I own every Mega Man game already. For those who have never played the third Mega Man, it’s well worth your money — even more so if you buy it on a compilation disc for dirt cheap and get the rest of the Mega Man games with it.
