Square Enix announced recently that two of their biggest franchises will be making their way to North America for the Nintendo DS early in 2009. First up is Dragon Quest V: Hand of The Heavenly Bride, which has never been available in North America. Fans of the series will recognize the game as a part of the Zenithia Trilogy. For those unfamiliar with the series, in Dragon Quest V you play the part of a character who follows his father on a journey to see the world. As the story develops, you branch out on your own and continue the adventure to carry on your family’s legacy.
Next, Square will be releasing Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume. While this game is the third in the franchise, this will be the first time that Valkyrie Profile appears on the DS. The game will feature all the staples that have made the series such a hit. There’s the Norse mythology, a deep storyline, and a “refreshing battle system with deeper strategic elements.”
Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride will arrive Feb. 17, 2009 and Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume will drop on March 17, 2009.
