Will we ever see The End of the World? |

Console games have had no shortage of controversy over the years. With the likes of GTA, Manhunt, and even as far back as Carmageddon and Custer’s Revenge (Atari 2600, for all you young-ins), console gaming has always been a hot spot. Handheld and mobile games have avoided this for the most part, but that may change soon as small indie developer Izanami Gameworks is desperately seeking a publisher for its debut title, The End of the World. The game’s mechanics seem solid enough and the action is fast-paced and smooth. It definitely looks like it would be easy to kill a half hour here and there crushing commuters into the walls, but we doubt we’ll ever get the chance to actually play it. After watching the trailer, it’s hard to imagine anyone actually getting up the nerve to publish it. With taglines like “serial killing madness” and “seek and destroy ambulances”, it just doesn’t seem likely that any self-respecting publisher would risk their namesake on The End of the World.

It didn’t get that bad until they started destroying ambulances for extra lives. Also, I was getting a little Natural Born Killer vibe from it.

Ok retro fans out there. It’s a combo of Spy Hunter, Bump ‘n’ jump, and Road Rash. If you flip the graphics to good guys instead of bad and make the main protaginist(s) fighting for good and this is nothing new.

Thanks for the article, we love it!
We only wanted to make a fun game with a twisted sense of humor… it’s true that the grotesque atmosphere of the game can be kind of a problem for most publishers, but I think we are not going THAT far (yet ;) I think there is a market for these b-movie type of games (as zombie or serial killer low cost flicks), and like you mention, a whole generation, included us, loved passionately Carmageddon or Road Rash, these people sure now have mobiles…and if they want to play a little bit while taking bus home, but tired of dealing with puzzles, jewels and snakes, we bet they’ll prefer burst out laughing with a our silly, cheesy, extreme but fun handheld game, we hope some publishers will notice that…we hope.
It’s only a matter of giving choice to consumer…we are only a colour in the palette.
Thankfully yours,
Izanami GameWorks
