Not alot of news moving about in the gamerverse this weekend, what with everyone and their neighbor playing Gears 2, Fallout 3 or World at War. And you know what we do when there isn’t much news to cover? We torture you in order to pass the time. We have decided to keep that tradition going and subject you to an amount of torture that no man can take: a clip from Entertainment Tonight. This isn’t just any old episode though, this is a behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming Prince of Persia movie. You’ll get to see Jake Gyllenhal act weird, but more importantly we get to see him yell and scream across a few sets. The movie is loosely based on the game Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, and is produced by hotshot Jerry Bruckheimer. After seeing this clip (we suggest you skip the talking parts) we can confidently say that this will be either an insanely awesome movie, or an insanely awesome failure. Either way people, it’s a win-win situation.

I like Gyllenhal and all but I am going for insanely awesome failure.

The game’s story was pretty good, so they’d have to take quite a bit of liberties to screw that up. But if nothing else, I’m sure the movie is going to be very beautiful to look at.

Thats what I fear most… the whole ’sands of time’ story in the game, although it was good, was partly so that they could incorporate the awesome game mechanics. I doubt that taking the story and transfering it to a screenplay will be successful. I don’t think we’ll see Gyllenhal (as much as loved him in Darko) as a character we gamers can warm to, as we’re probably not gonna see him do any of the wall-running and ledge-hopping that made the prince so awesome.
