Boy thought to have had stroke, was really just addicted to videogames
BY Ricardo BiltonNovember 21st, 2008 More on:

When 13-year-old Lorenzo Amato was brought to an Italian emergency room, all his symptoms pointed to a diagnosis that he had either had a stroke or was brain damaged. Delirious and unable to speak, Amato stumped doctors until a discovery was made: The boy had recently finished a major gaming marathon with his PlayStation 3. An Italian politician described Amato’s condition as one stemming from a “mental detachment” with the boy’s PlayStation 3. Indeed, the experience was so traumatizing that the 13-year-old requested that his father toss out the costly console. A strange story to be sure. Stroke-like conditions aside, what teenage boy in his right mind would ask to have his PlayStation thrown away?
