Bungie have changed the name of the forthcoming Halo project. The expansion formerly known as Halo 3: Recon is now Halo 3: ODST. Now for those of you outside the Halo loop, don’t worry, ODST is not a nasty infection you catch in the downstairs department. Don’t be fooled by that “keep it clean” line either, this game will not see you battling sexually transmitted diseases. ODST is in fact the acronym for Orbital Drop Shock Trooper, as it is from their perspective the story is told, not Master Chief’s.

Speaking to IGN about the reason for the name change, a Microsoft representative had this to say, “We decided that Halo 3: ODST was a better name for this title as we look to build out this new character and the story behind the title.” Hmm, not terribly exciting is it? Still, the trailer remains top-notch, and with a new name stuck at the end we have a reason to watch it all over again.
