What do you get when you cross a prolific advertising campaign with a Europe-wide price cut? Your biggest sales week ever, according to Microsoft. The company has announced that the Xbox 360 recently enjoyed its best 7 day performance on the continent ever, bringing the console’s tally up to a grand total of 7 million unites.
It seems that the company’s recent attempts to re-brand itself with a more family-friendly image this holiday season is paying dividends. And with the encroaching recession, consumers are looking for home entertainment they can really invest in.
Martin Olausson, director of Digital Media Research at Strategy Analytics added: “In tough economic times, home entertainment products traditionally do well, as consumers tend to want to stay in and save money. Gaming and entertainment consoles like the Xbox 360 are seen as good value, given they can entertain the whole household through Christmas and beyond.”
