Epic has released a patch for Gears of War 2 that should sort out the matchmaking issues some players have been experiencing. In a post on the official Gears forums, Epic senior producer Rod Fergusson said the patch will remedy the looooooong wait to find multiplayer games in single and four player parties. Some of the effects will be felt immediately, others may take a few days to “play out”.
Other benefits of the patch include fixing the problem where some players could not start the single player campaign if Xbox Live was down, and improvements to the stat tracking process for the Gears website. According to Fergusson, any “potential gameplay issue” fixes were being held back for a future update. *adopts gravelly voice* Nice.

I downloaded the patch. It still takes upwards of 5 minutes to find a game and now it’s lagging. Awesome.

I’m not seeing any improvements over here as well. Though I don’t have any lag once I do get in a game.
