David Jaffe comments on GoW 3 debut without using foul language
BY Adam Sandberg Dec. 16th, 2008 More on:

God of War creator David Jaffe earlier said God of War III looked f*ucking good, even better than his current console favorite in terms of graphics, Gears of War II. When the first in-game material was shown to the masses at the VGA (video above), some fans felt a modest shrill of disappointment rushing through them. Although the game looked amazing, that certain jaw dropping moment was hard to pinpoint. Jaffe has now given his thoughts on the subject, explaining that he felt a bit “meh” about the whole thing. Poor video quality and because the material that was shown on VGA was older than what Jaffe was shown are the reasons for his chagrin.

“The footage aired on Spike looked meh. It was dark and grainy and I was watching on a SD television.” However, he does promise things will look up. “The stuff I saw that I raved about was probably finished 1-2 days before I got to the studios. The Spike stuff I saw had already been turned into Spike so it was 100 percent older. Not that I thought it was bad — again — just I can see how the new stuff I saw looked further along, for sure. And to give you an idea, the stuff I saw that I raved about looked about 25-30% better than what you see in this thread.”

If what Jaffe’s saying is true, we eagerly await a more fresh God of War III video to satisfy our reborn expectations. The released video looked as badass as it should be, but if there’s more to it our arms are wide open.
