If you’re anything like us, you think the “J” in “PB&J” should stand for “jam” rather than “jelly,” because we all know jam is easier to spread. And if you’re exactly like us, then you’re just as sick as we are of the common Wii debates of ‘08 (i.e., graphics vs. gameplay, casual vs. hardcore, 1st party vs. 3rd party, etc.). So in honor of the coming new year, we’ll just suggest that you watch this Muramasa: The Demon Blade video and bask in the wonder of hand-drawn 2D sprite animation, retro kung fu sound effects, and the promise of good … nay … great things to come.

it’s pretty, but the gameplay looks very repetitive and boring.

I was pretty much going to say what Dom said. It’s graphically beautiful, but I am reserving judgment on how it plays for now.

People just don’t appreciate good side-scrollers anymore.

The problem isn’t that it’s a side-scroller but rather that it’s almost solely a fighting game, broken up by segments of holding down right on the analogue stick. From the trailer it looks like there’s little to no exploration and that players are gaited with each battle. Which is unfortunate because it would be fantastic otherwise.
