Metallica saves Slayer from Microsoft lyrics police
BY Jeremy Hill Dec. 30th, 2008 More on:

Guitar Hero: Metallica could very well be the best spin-off game in the series. In addition to featuring one of the best metal bands of all time, GH: Metallica will feature double bass drum pedals and guest appearances from some of the band’s favorites and influences. Slayer was on the list, but Microsoft had a little problem with some of the band’s lyrics. Speaking with GameInformer, via Ars Technica, about Slayer’s lyrics, Metallica’s Lars Ulrich said,”Microsoft won’t do it if this lyrical content is in there. There’s all this bullshit you have to deal with, but we stood up for Slayer, and we finally got Slayer cleared like a week ago.”

When it invades our living room arenas in the first quarter of 2009, GH: Metallica is said to contain 28 songs from Metallica and 17 songs from other bands. Another difficulty level called expert plus will make its debut for those with bones made of steel, along with some battle modes that uses power ups based on some of Metallica’s songs.

Apart from the lyrics, Slayer is impossible to play in real guitar let alone some toy.
