Faking the Band - Broken hearts and hillbillies [Jan. 6]
BY Jason R. Wallace Jan. 6th, 2009 More on:

Faking the Band is a weekly feature detailing the latest in DLC for Rock Band 2 and GH World Tour.

Rejoice, o children of Overdrive! Servants of Star Power! After an unexpected and overlong hiatus, Faking the Band has finally returned to keep you up-to-date and informed on all the latest songs.

Some small changes have been made for the new year: that superfluous “2″ has been dropped, and the whole feature has been trimmed and packaged for quick and easy consumption. Makes for a little less conversation and a little more action, so to speak.

Speaking of action, expect video content in the near future. No, not just a batch of boring music videos, but recordings of the hottest DLC being played at Expert level for all instruments! These videos will give a better idea of the sound and feel of the tracks, which makes for smarter shopping, of course. Now then…

Rock and roll icon Roy Orbison, “the Big O” to friends and fans, has graced Rock Band 2 with those trademark black shades and tunes of love and loss. The Roy Orbison Pack stretches across his career, featuring standbys like “Oh, Pretty Woman” and “You Got It,” some blues and rockabilly with “Mean Woman Blues” and “Ooby Dooby,” the heart-wrenching “In Dreams” and an ode to his first wife, “Claudette.”

As for World Tour, it’s piling into a pickup truck on Thursday, January 8, with the good ol’ boys of the Country Rock Track Pack. Rascal Flatts, as pop as they are country, contributes with “Me and My Gang,” Brad Paisley offers a few unusual pickup lines in “Ticks,” and the duo Brooks & Dunn upgrades to “Hillbilly Deluxe.” The last track also made an appearance in December’s Going Country Pack for Rock Band 2 alongside the Dixie Chicks, Miranda Lambert and others.
