The battle between game companies and resale is bitter and angry, but it looks like once again resale shall triumph. Originally Epic had been saying that its Flashback map pack for Gears of War 2 would only be available for those who bought the game brand new. It was an incentive to not pick up Gears of War 2 used, or that’s what we thought at least. Turns out that it was just a matter of time before the pack become downloadable over XBL, and on the cheap too.

At 400 Microsoft Points, the five map pack is a darn good deal for anyone looking for some more multiplayer fun on their system. This means that on the whole one could theoretically get the map pack and a used version of Gears of War 2 for less than the game costs when it is new. However, if you still want to stick it to the resale man, don’t worry. When you buy the game new you’ll be able to download the map pack for free.
