Peter Molyneux has lauded Media Molecule’s LittleBigPlanet as the most important creative innovation of the past twelve months. The Lionhead head honcho nominated LBP in his role of ambassador for C&binet’s review of the creative economy 2008. C&binet, or The Creative and Business International Network, is forum for various big-wigs in the creative and commercial industries. Other ambassadors include J Allard of Microsoft and Spencer Hyman of Last.fm.
Molyneux, who is an OBE lest we forget, gave praise to LBP ahead of his very own Fable II. “LittleBigPlanet has outstanding creative vision,” he said. “It’s from a British start-up studio and is one of the defining titles on Japan’s Sony PS3.”
Peter Molyneux, reaching out across the console fanboy divide. Bless him.

Hes right. Hopefully he realizes what innovation means and fable 3 will actually feature some of it.

It seems as though Molyneux does more talking then he does designing. I know the Fables were solid games, but for all of the self-promotion he does, and all of the generalized statements he makes, none of his games have blown me away. If someone from Bethesda wants to make big statements, I’m ok with it, but Molyneux needs to keep his mouth shut until he designs a game that bests its own marketing.
