Just months after they showed they can make half of a good Sonic game in Sonic Unleashed, the blue blur’s developer will try to one-up themselves with Sonic and the Black Knight, which comes to Wii on March 10.
The new trailer opens like just-another JRPG, with a mysterious hooded girl casting a spell. Suddenly, Sonic falls from the sky and goes all crazy on us. Instead of just-another JRPG, we get just-another Sonic game! Except that Sonic has a sword this time.
The good news is that this one looks like its all speed all the time, which is a probable improvement over the drastic changes of pace presented by Unleashed. There are also hints of side-scrolling action in the trailer, which is always a positive sign. Of course, the X factor here could be how well Sonic and his shiny new weapon are controlled by the Wiimote and nunchuk combo. As usual, we’ll have to wait for the game’s release to find out. Unless I can get my hands on it at the New York Comic Con next month where Sega will be showing off MadWorld, The House of the Dead: Overkill, and The Conduit. Even though they haven’t said so, fingers crossed someone at Sega will pack along Black Knight as well.
