I hope you’re sitting down for this: Ubisoft has confirmed that sequels for Assassin’s Creed, Red Steel, Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell are coming before March 2010 (that’s the future!). While rumblings have been going around these wild internets that Assassin’s Creed and Red Steel, which sold ~14 trillion copies combined*, would be getting sequels, it’s nice to get something concrete. And hey, Splinter Cell: Conviction has been hiding in the bushes for so long, it would be nice to see its face so we can file that police report.
Ubi also made mention of a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fighter for Wii developed by Game Arts who know a thing or two about those kind of games. Although some will debate Super Smash Bros. Brawl as being a real fighter and I say that’s what GameFAQs’ forums are for (zing!). The enigmatic I Am Alive is expected out within the release window, slipping from its surprise buttsecks March 09 (snicker) release. Looks like the folks at Ubisoft have a little something for everyone coming in the next year. I know I’m one of the 19 people that actually enjoyed Assassin’s Creed and Red Steel so I’m slightly pants-tented.

I enjoyed Ass Creed, but didn’t play Red Steel. I think people expected too much from Red Steel because of the control scheme. People mentally expected 1:1 interaction with the game world, which just isn’t that possible yet. Even with Motion Plus it’s not really perfect.
I definitely would buy Ass Creed 2 if they did a little better job of varying the objectives. It played pretty damn well and climbing shit couldn’t have been more fun, but it just got repetitive. If they learned their lessons then Ass Creed 2 should be one of the best games from this generation of consoles.

Agreed. The visual and technical aspects of AC we’re siply brilliant and I can not wait to see what they did about the repetivness. Though I have to say, what I can’t wait to see even more is the next Ghost Recon. GIVE THE PC VERSION BACK TO RED STORM!!!
